An AI Chatbot for Infrastructure Projects to Advance Social Procurement in Construction and Empower Marginalised Communities
Under review, 2025
In collaboration with the Department of Building Economics, I developed an RAG-based chatbot that translates project Method Statements and Bills of Quantities into clear, on-site guidance for unskilled construction workers—an example of Interdisciplinary AI bridging computing and construction. Framed by social procurement, the tool helps marginalized communities participate more effectively in infrastructure projects by improving comprehension and cutting information-search time; results were validated experimentally and through expert interviews. The work, currently under review, demonstrates practical impact while aligning with the UN SDGs, notably No Poverty (SDG 1) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
